Halloween 2020: Mask Up & Celebrate Social Distance

Halloween 2020: Mask Up & Celebrate Social Distance

Halloween is right around the corner, and parents across the nation wonder exactly what this festive favorite will look like in the light of the ongoing pandemic.

While rules, restrictions, and approved activities may vary from place to place, there are some things you can do to help make sure you and your loved ones have a happy and healthy Halloween.

Know the Risks

Like many things in 2020, some Halloween activities now come with an additional risk—exposure to COVID19.

According to the CDC, this is particularly true when it comes to more activities we typically associate with Halloween: going door-to-door and getting candy that has been passed from hand to hand, as well as attending crowded holiday events, like trick-or-treats, indoor costume parties, indoor haunted houses, or even trunk-or-treats where people set up their cars in parking lots for providing candy to the kids.

Other activities, however, may be less risky. For instance, attending open-air haunted houses, small outdoor gatherings (social distanced, of course), and visiting orchards and apple picking allow for a safer experience, according to the CDC.

If you're still considering trick-or-treating, they recommend “one-way trick-or-treating,” which means individually wrapped goodies are lined up in a socially distanced area, for instance, the end of a driveway or safely outside a doorway, and ready for easy pickup.

Though families may still choose to participate in these events, it’s important to keep basic guidelines in mind, including maintaining social distance, washing hands, and wearing a mask, which can be extra fun during this holiday.

If you’re looking for low-risk activities, carving pumpkins, having a house-hold scavenger hunt, or participating in virtual Halloween activities are all great options.

Wear a Mask

Whether you’re sticking to your regular Halloween routine of door-to-door trick-or-treating or you’re taking a different approach to this “spooktacular” holiday, one thing is certain—masks are essential.

Scientific research and many credentialed experts in the infectious disease arena has repeatedly shown that mask use is pivotal in curbing disease spread, and wearing can make for a much safer Halloween.

Before you head out, make sure you find a mask that your kids can comfortably and consistently wear, too. This can be challenging in every day or at-home settings, but the excitement of Halloween may leave them even more tempted to remove them (especially if no one is looking).

TRU47 offers various adult masks and children’s styles in two sizes, all designed for optimal comfort and effectiveness. The main feature of all our masks and the multiple benefits inherent in their material construction is they all are made of 99.99% contain silver.

Silver has proven antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties to help you, your chaperones (and all your pirates and queens) have a healthy and safe Halloween.

Pack the Essentials

If you plan on trick-or-treating or attending other Halloween events, it’s a great idea to create a Halloween safety pack. Your pack should include traditional items, like flashlights, glow-in-the-dark wands, or reflective stickers or patches for your child to carry or wear.

This year’s excellent additions include other antibacterial items as well, like our Stellercleenz cloths and / or TRU47’s Silver Spritzes. You’ll want to pack an extra mask, just in case, to give to a needy companion or in case yours gets eaten by the candy monster.

Stay Stress-Free

This year may feel slightly different, and the additional concerns can quickly lead to a stressful experience for you and your kids. We believe it doesn’t have to be that way.

Carefully evaluating your risks, practicing social distancing, wearing a well-fitting mask, and making sure you are prepared by building a Halloween safety pack are just a few ways to decrease your stress levels.

Another great way to maintain your physical and mental health is to use our Silver Mask Mist, a custom blend of pure essential oils, trace minerals, silver citrate, and colloidal silver.

Our Silver Mask Mists are designed to be sprayed directly onto your mask, inside or outside or both. You can also spray it on silver scarves or your cloth coverings. This extra spritz of silver can help contribute to a relaxing state of mind—a huge plus any day of the year.

Halloween this year will be different for sure. However, that doesn’t mean you need to say “boo-humbug” to the whole thing. With the right precautions and a little creativity, you can create a memorable day full of family, fun, candy and hopefully, sweet memories, too.
