What Makes TRU47’s Grounding Socks Unique
Grounding, also known as earthing, has gained in popularity and become quite mainstream over the last couple of years. The science behind this natural wellness phenomenon has been published in over 24 peer-reviewed studies. The benefits are indisputable and the ways to get grounded are many, both indoors and outside through one’s feet – and yes, socks.
History of Socks
Socks have gained in popularity over the years. From days of past when they were basically functional foot coverings, many since have been specifically designed for outdoor and athletic activities and are available in an array of different yarns, from traditional wool to combed cotton, synthetic blends, organic materials, and bamboo. Today they have further evolved into healthful coverings, such as compression socks, but also fashion statements and seasonal gift items with holiday motifs.
Benefits of Grounding Socks
One new introduction to the footwear and sock arena is what are called “grounding socks”. Some have used the phrase and description loosely, however, there are differences that warrant attention. For starters, almost any natural fiber sock when worn directly on the earth’s surface, which is sand, soil, grass, brick, rock, unsealed tile, and concrete, will be conductive and allow the nourishing ions from the ground to pass up into one’s body. Going barefoot is of course, the best way to get grounded through your feet. The benefits of grounding are reduction of inflammation, increased blood circulation, normalization of blood pressure, better sleep, less anxiety, and a general return to a state of more normal homeostasis.
What Makes TRU47’s Grounding Socks Different?
Grounding socks are made with silver threads, sometimes called yarns. There is a big difference, however, in the type of silver, how it is woven and the area of a sock it covers continuously. At TRU47 we spend a great deal of time and invest heavily in science, engineering, and fabrication of our silver socks, all made in the USA, including the materials used. TRU47 socks are exclusively made with 99% pure silver created during an “electroless” process. The socks have a great deal of technical engineering behind their design. More specifically, 99% pure silver is plated through a three-dimensional aqueous process. The silver will never flake off which is often the case in coated or sprayed nano-technology silver yarns which are inferior, less expensive, and can be harmful if silver particles break apart.
In addition, TRU47’s pure silver threads are woven throughout the entire sole area - not just in the ball of the foot area (called the metatarsal / K1 point). They wrap around on top of and under the toe area which are important to be covered.
Excellent comfort and stretch make TRU47’s perfect for zero ground shoes, what are now often called Barefoot shoes, wide toe box shoes, clogs, and yes, for sandal wearers, too. Engineering and continuous stitching of silver in the sock design is also important, versus only in sections or patches. The continuous thread connection makes them thermal conductive which regulates temperature. It also blocks EMFs, RFs, and Wi-Fi waves. Pure electroless plated silver is reported to be a natural antimicrobial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral element that helps to stave off bacteria that cause odor, aka “stinky feet” and inhibits the growth of germs.
Getting the Right Size
Sizing options are also important to consider and should be as exact as possible. Fit and comfort are key and will deter the development of blisters which almost always result from poor fittings. Socks with proclaimed “one size fits almost all” or dual offerings, two sizes together, like S/M and L/XL, are not recommended for healthy footwear. Self-sanitizing attributes of pure silver makes washing frequently not necessary so our socks and feet and stay fresher longer.
Using Grounding Socks Indoors
When indoors, silver grounding socks can be utilized when one’s feet touch a grounding surface. This can be a concrete floor, or an indoor grounding mat/pad, plugged into a grounded port with a grounding cord. You don’t need to plug your silver socks directly into a grounding port when indoors as some companies propose; this in fact one shouldn’t; this can be dangerous and can cause tangling and harmful tripping. You just need to be touching any conductive surface or in direct contact with silver woven textiles that are grounded, such as our grounding bed bands; they are great for warm tootsies at night to have silver socks touching a grounded soft jersey band.
Design and manufacturing of TRU47’s pure silver thread, including all fibers and yarns - Combed Cotton or Merino Wool, are sourced and made in the USA with extreme oversight, great care, and the assurance of quality materials. Nothing comes from China. TRU47 silver woven socks have many healthful benefits and are wonderful for everyday wear year-round indoors or outside whether grounding or simply enjoying great socks. So, not all silver socks are created equal. We are proud to share why.
